If you have the space, it makes a tremendous sense to maximize your Subwoofer system's piston area to enhance efficiency (and output).  It gets even better when the larger driver delivers additional power handling and excursion.  For the preceding reasons, the 13W3V3-4 can be the best choice for those seeking high output through great sound quality at medium power levels.

As for the smaller W3V3-Series's, several exclusive JL Audio technologies and proprietary assembly techniques are applied to the 13W3V3-4 to enhance linearity and reliability.

The 13W3V3-4 is best used through amplifier power in the 150 - 600 W range and is optimized to operate in a moderate size 1.5 cubic FT (42.5 L) sealed enclosure, or a 2.3 cubic FT (63.7 L) ported enclosure.

Enclosure notes:

• The enclosure recommendations listed above are external dimensions which assume the use of 0.8" (19 mm) thick material.  If you are using 0.6" (16 mm) thick material, subtract 0.3" (6.5 mm) from each dimension.  Do not use any material through a thickness of less than 0.6" (16 mm) as this may compromise the rigidity of the enclosure
• All enclosure volumes listed above are net internal volumes!  Driver and port and brace displacement must be added to obtain the final gross internal volume.  All enclosure dimensions above have already taken this into account
• When using multiple Subwoofers in a common enclosure you will need to recalculate the enclosure and port dimensions.  For assistance please contact your authorized JL Audio dealer or technical support
• We recommend the use of this speaker in a bi amplified system using high quality satellite speakers and an amplifier.  We do not recommend the use of this Subwoofer through a passive crossover (coil), as this type of device will adversely affect performance
